Role reversal

What is the problem with this unique, irritating and egoistic species called MEN? They are a confused lot. Since time immemorial they have done everything in their power to maintain their superiority (in their mind only) over women. But time has changed now, today the fairer sex is strong, demanding and fiercely independent and she is creating a niche in all the fields of life.

So where does this leave men? Well you would be amused to know- beauty parlours. Ok I know I sound unfair. But a trip to my local unisex salon recently and I was shocked to see the growing number of men getting facials, massage ad beauty treatments.

And here I was naïve enough to think that men just visit salons for a shave or a haircut. And what is this with men and colour pink. They seem obsessed with it. From shirts, to tees, from ties to cosmetics, men are wearing pink. Blame it on David Beckham who wore pink nail varnish to the christening of Liz Hurley's baby.

I also observe this interesting trend when I see men turning gossipmongers of the first degree. Initially female were condemned for gossiping and back bitching, whereas men were considered above from all the gossip and work politics, but now it seems that men are party to all the gossip that goes behind the bosses' backs.

So now this leaves me confused. If women are now the providers and caretakers of the society and men are indulging in more and more feminine things such as appearances, gossips and shopping, does this mean a role reversal between the two sexes?

So are we to soon witness a dawn of new era where there will be a gender role reversal in which women will take over the provider's role and men stay home to look after the children? I don't mind as long as my man does not sneak in my dresses or try my cosmetics…yuck!
