Pre-paid meters must for high-rises

PRE-PAID METERS have been made mandatory for residents of high-rise buildings of the city opting for an independent electricity connection. In a major decision, Kanpur Electricity Supply Company (Kesco) has made pre-paid meters compulsory for all multi-story buildings of the city. Residents of high-rise buildings preferring for an independent power connection would now have to go for pre-paid meters.

Stolen goods recovered

IN A raid carried out by the Kesco officials at a godown in Juhi, stolen power cables, spare parts of transformers and other electronic items worth Rs 1 crore were seized. All the seized goods belonged to Kesco and were stolen from several substations of the power company. 
Govt counsel to move HC in protest

GOVERNMENT COUNSELS working with district session courts are upset over the recent amendments incorporated in the legal remembrance manual (LR manual) by the state government, and have decided to challenge the move in the High Court. As per the changes in LR manual, the district magistrate, instead of district judge, would do the assessment of government counsels’ working.
