| | Under the new sports policy of the Union government, the Boys Sports Company of the Rajputana Rifles Regimental Centre of the Indian Army has been entrusted with the task of enrolling boys in the Company and training them in athletics, basketball and volleyball. The basic objective of the Company is to prepare a raw individual having potential and aptitude in sports and games for participation in national and international sports events. The Army would be enrolling these boys, who should not be born before June 1, 1991, and not later than March 31, 1996, in education Classes VI-X. These boys would be provided free of cost facility for education under the CBSE Board upto Class X and also free clothing and boarding, said an official release said. On completion of Class X, they will be enrolled in the Army as Sepoy or Havildar as per their performance in sports. For further enhancement of their career, a provision for study upto 10+2 level has also been kept and subsequently these boys can apply for commission in the army at an appropriate time. The Rajputana Rifles would be conducting a preliminary selection for the boys in these three sports at its Regimental centre at Delhi Cantonment on April 2, which would be followed by a final selection on April 3-4. Minimum physical measurements have been laid out for different age categories in the three sports. Boys meeting these requirements have to report at the Regimental centre alongwith their birth certificate, caste certificate, school certificate and ten passport size photographs which should not be more than one month old. |
