| | | Another world record for Australia | Rajneesh Gupta March 28, 2007 | | Australia, by scoring 322-6 against West Indies in the first match of the Super-8, achieved a world record. This was the sixth time in as many matches when Australia posted a total in excess of 300. Before this match Australia were at level with Sri Lanka with five such instances. Australia's sequence started with the second match of Chappell-Hadlee Series against New Zealand. Australia posted a mammoth 336-4 only to lose the match by five wickets! In the very next match Australia scored 346-5, but New Zealand achieved a thrilling win by one wicket with three balls remaining. In all the three group matches in 2007 World Cup Australia scored in excess of 300. With today's effort Australia have now scored 300 plus totals in five consecutive matches in the World Cup (including the 2003 World Cup final in which they made a massive 359-2 against India). No other side has managed to score 300-plus totals in more than two matches on a trot in the World Cup.
